Design reports for decisions, not for data dumps

Clients need quick confidence in assumptions, scope, and totals. Presenting raw rows without context increases questions and delays approvals.

Recommended report sequence

Use a predictable structure so commercial and engineering reviewers can scan fast and compare revisions cleanly.

  • Project and revision header with date and validity window.
  • Grouped totals and grand total before detailed line tables.
  • Explicit assumptions, exclusions, and unit conventions.

Version control for client trust

Always include revision id in filename and footer. Consistent versioning prevents parallel-document confusion during negotiations.
